The Deep Cleanse

It seems that everyone is cleaning and purging nowadays.  The popular Marie Kondo has been shoved in my face every turn I make';be it from a fellow mom or a magazine.  I've resisted.  In my mind, I've done this before, and then let the mess build up around me.  It's the  never-ending cycle of clean and purge that kills me, and I came to a place of comfort that helped me fiend off the Marie Kondo mamas.  However, truth is, it's a cycle because none of us will ever be done purging and cleaning, ever.  So, reluctantly, I'm saying yes to a deep clean this winter, but I will not read Marie Kondo's book, ever.

I've seen calendars posted on Facebook and fellow blogs, with schedules of tasks to do each day to declutter.  I liked them, but they weren't perfect for my situation.  So, I've given myself goals that I think I can do in a day.  Here's my current plan, and it's subject to revision:

  1. Half the master closet
  2. Dismantle crib
  3. 2nd Half the master closet
  4. Pasta shelf and top of fridge
  5. Lid cabinet
  6. Half of office closet
  7. 2nd half office closet
  8. Sort out school binders
  9. Linen closet
  10. Laundry supplies shelf
  11. Sock bins
  12. Cabinets in kids' bathroom
  13. Half toy shelves
  14. 2nd half toy shelves
  15. Find toys to toss and donate
  16. Entertainment cabinets
  17. My bathroom cabinets
  18. Husband's bathroom cabinets
  19. Makeup drawer
  20. Jewelry
  21. Art/Craft Supplies
  22. Hubby's suits
  23. Underneath my bed
  24. Kid's storage bins
  25. Kid's storage bins 2nd half
  26. Garage part 1
  27. Garage part 2
  28. Garage part 3
  29. Garage part 4
So far I've completed one task, the first half of my closet. I began the crib dismantle, but my husband will have to finish that goal, as some screws were too worn to remove.  I'm hoping my handy man has a solution!

I'll update occasionally on my progress!
 To be completed...
